happiness is never an infinity's half

this
is for you...

and it's said that he
transformed himself
into a tree and that it was
his own choice to stop living

(click pentru melodie)

and he stayed there to look
at the earth giving birth to new flowers

he became a nest
for rabbits and humming-birds
and the wind taught him the flavours
of resin and wild honey
and the rain poured down on him

"my happiness",
he said to himself
"here it is...
I have found it
I'm feeling great now
I have all the
time for myself
I don't need anyone anymore.
This is the beauty of life"

but two woman eyes
passed one day
two eyes that had stolen
a little vernissage
from the sky

and he felt that his roots
started to tremble

only a lonely man
can understand
what a sudden loss he felt
and he started to lengthen
his branches in order to touch her

he understood that happiness
is never an infinity's half

the moon and the sun,
the stones and the clouds,
the smile and the sorrow,
they all came together now
or maybe it was just a man
who began to live again.
now there was music
that began to fill up his solitude
it was that true part
that every love encloses in itself
in order to make believe

...nici o zi fara o declaratie de dragoste

“Am legat copacii la ochi
Cu-o basma verde
Si le-am spus sa ma gaseasca.

Si copacii m-au gasit imediat
Cu un hohot de frunze.

Am legat pasarile la ochi
Cu-o basma de nori
Si le-am spus sa ma gaseasca...

Si pasarile m-au gasit
Cu un cantec.

Am legat tristetea la ochi
Cu un zambet,
Si tristetea m-a gasit a doua zi
Intr-o iubire.

Am legat soarele la ochi
Cu noptile mele
Si i-am spus sa ma gaseasca.

Esti acolo, a zis soarele,
Dupa timpul acela,
Nu te mai ascunde.

Nu te mai ascunde,
Mi-au zis toate lucrurile
Si toate sentimentele
Pe care am incercat sa le leg
La ochi.”

Marin Sorescu, “Am legat…”
